Anam 148-150

148- THOSE WHO WORSHIP IDLES WILL SAY: “IF ALLAH WILLED WE WOULD NOT HAVE WORSHIPPED IDLES, NOR WOULD OUR FATHERS, NOR WOULD WE HAVE BEEN FORBIDDEN ANYTHING”.  THOSE BEFORE THOSE LIED SIMILARLY UNTIL THEY TASTED OUR PUNISHMENT.  SAY: “DO YOU HAVE KNOWLEDGE TO BRING OUT FOR US, YOU ARE FOLLOWING YOUR GUESSING AND YOU ARE LYING”

149- SAY: “ALLAH HAS THE GREAT MANIFEST EVIDENCE, AND HAD HE WILLED, HE WOULD HAVE GUIDED YOU ALL TO THE RIGHT PATH”.

150- SAY: “BRING YOUR WITNESSES WHO TESTIFY THAT ALLAH HAS FORBIDDEN THESE”.  IF THEY TESTIFY, DO NOT TESTIFY WITH THEM, AND DO NOT FOLLOW THE DESIRES OF THOSE WHO REJECTED OUR AYAHS, DO NOT BELIEVE OF THE HEREAFTER, AND THOSE WHO TAKE EQUALS TO THEIR LORD.

Allah the Highest created mankind with a free will to choose what to do, and to choose the right from the wrong.  He gave us minds to understand and sent us guidance to know the right way.  Consequently, there is reward and punishment.

There are those who argue that their misguidance is not their fault and not their wrong doing, but Allah the Highest willed them to disbelieve, so they did.  Allah the Highest is telling them that if they have evidence to support their argument, they are invited to bring it out.  They will not, for they have no such evidence.

This shows us that whenever we have a religious discussion or argument concerning a point, we should have this discussion on the basis of evidence from the religious references such as the Quran and Hadith.  Arguing otherwise is unfounded, guessing or outright lying.

It is interesting that this principle is the basis of any scientific discussions, yet somehow it seems to be ignored otherwise.

Allah the Highest chose to give us free will, and consequently there will be believers and disbelievers.
