Araf 144-145
144- HE (ALLAH) SAID: “O MOSES, I HAVE CHOSEN YOU OVER ALL PEOPLE WITH MY MESSAGE AND MY WORDS, TAKE WHAT I HAVE GIVEN YOU, AND BE ONE OF THE THANKFUL. 145- AND WE WROTE FOR HIM IN THE TABLETS, INSTRUCTIONS AND DETAILS CONCERNING EVERY THING, TAKE IT FIRMLY AND COMMAND YOUR PEOPLE TO TAKE THE GOOD THEREIN, AND I WILL BE SHOWING YOU THE DESTINY AND HOME OF THE WICKED.
Allah the Highest favours some men over others and favours some messengers over others, placing them on different levels and status. Allah the Highest said: “THESE MESSENGERS, WE FAVOURED SOME OF THEM TO THE OTHER, SOME SPOKE TO ALLAH, AND RAISED SOME OF THEM DEGREES IN STATUS”. (S:2 A:253) When Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, went up through the heavens in the Mirage journey, he saw the prophets and messengers, peace upon them all, at different levels of the seven heavens. Mohamed, prayer and peace upon him, went up to the highest level, to “Sedrat Al Montaha”, where no one else had been, including the angels. Allah the Highest, spoke to, Adam and Moses peace upon them, when they were on Earth. However, Allah the Highest, raised, Mohamed, prayer and peace upon him, up into the heavens to speak to him. The great favour, which Allah the Highest bestowed upon Moses, placed a great responsibilities on him, and Allah the Highest commanded him to: 1- Take his responsibility firmly, meaning seriously and to work hard to deliver his message just as Allah the Highest had given it to him. 2- To be always thankful of Allah the Highest. Thankful for what he was given and thankful for what he was not. 3- To command his people –The Children of Israel- to take and uphold, all the good and righteous commands given to them.
Allah the Highest gave Moses, peace upon him, ten tablets on which Allah’s commands were written and engraved. Allah the Highest commanded them to try to do the best. Righteous deeds are not all of the same degree of righteousness, some righteous deeds are better than others, for example Allah the Highest said: “AND IF YOU PUNISH, PUNISH WITH THE SAME YOU HAVE BEEN PUNISHED WITH, BUT IF YOU ARE PATIENT AND PERSEVERE, THIS IS BETTER FOR THOSE WHO ARE PATIENT AND PERSEVERE”. (S:16 A:126) And Allah the Highest also said: “AND IF HE (THE BORROWER) IS SUFFERING HARDSHIP, THEN GRANT HIM TIME UNTIL EASIER TIMES. BUT IF YOU GIVE CHARITY, IT IS BETTER FOR YOU, IF YOU TRULY KNOW”. (S:2 A:280)
Allah the Highest shows us some of, what were, the homes of the wicked and disbelieving people who were punished, and their homes were left in ruins, empty or taken over by others. We go on holidays, visiting historical sites and remains with interest and amusement, we should however, take them as reminders and we should extract lessons from them. Some of them were destroyed by another nation, some by Tsunami or Volcano or strong wind. In Pompeii, where people lived in great luxury for their time, but also in great immorality, the people were destroyed by a volcano. The volcanic ash preserved the city and the dead bodies for thousands of years, for us to discover and hopefully learn from, not just to look at with interest. The homes of the people, who lived in Petra they carved into the mountains, are still there a tourist attraction, but without its inhabitants. This is the most important benefit of history, learning and extracting lessons from it.
