Araf 146 -147

146- I WILL TURN AWAY FROM MY AYAHS, THOSE WHO ARE ARROGANT ON EARTH WITHOUT ANY RIGHT, AND EVEN THOUGH THEY SEE EVERY AYAH, THEY DO NOT SEE IT, AND WHEN THEY SEE THE RIGHT PATH, THEY DO NOT TAKE IT, BUT WHEN THEY SEE THE PATH OF MISGUIDANCE, THEY TAKE IT.  THIS IS BECAUSE THEY REJECT OUR AYAHS AND IGNORED THEM.

Allah the Highest expels the proud and arrogant from His Mercy.  Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, said: “Does not enter Paradise, he who has as much as a grain of mustard of arrogance in his heart”. (Sahih)

No human being has any right to feel they are better than another, or to treat others as if they are better.  This usually happens by virtue of, their wealth, power, status, breeding etc.  They are all gifts which, Allah the Highest gives and takes from His people.

Every one of mankind is deficient in one aspect or another.  Also, what we have is not ours, i.e. comes from within us, but Allah the Highest gives everything to us.  These gifts are in our possession for a time only, at most for as long as we live, then wealth, power, homes, etc., pass on to others.

Therefore arrogance is a serious defect in a person’s character; it is serious because, it attracts wickedness and perverts the person from the path of Allah, as happened with Satan.  It leads to being rejected from Allah’s Mercy and guidance.

Allah the Highest rejects the arrogant, and for the arrogance of their believing that they are better than the rest.  Satan might have thought that he was better than Adam because he had been worshipping for years before the creation of Adam, also for being created from a different substance from Adam, Fire; which Satan wrongly presumed to be superior to clay.  However, no one is allowed to make such assumptions.

147- THOSE WHO DENIED OUR AYAHS AND THE MEETING OF THE HEREAFTER, THEIR DEEDS WILL BE RENDERED IN VAIN, ARE THEY RECOMPENSED FOR ANYTHING BUT WHAT THEY DID?

All our deeds are recompensed; the good deeds are always rewarded in the Hereafter for the believer and also in this life, but only in this life for the disbelievers.   The real recompense for our deeds is in the Hereafter, which is the worthwhile recompense.

If a person does a deed for money or fame, then he only gets money of fame in this life, and nothing in the Hereafter.  Allah the Highest said: “WHOEVER DESIRES THE HARVEST OF THE HEREAFTER, WE WILL INCREASE HIS HARVEST, AND WHOEVER DESIRES THE HARVEST OF THE LOWER LIFE, WE WILL GIVE HIS FROM THEREOF AND HE WILL HAVE NO SHARE IN THE HEREAFTER”.  (S:42 A:20)

In another Ayah, Allah the Highest draw us a very vivid picture of the situation of the person who does good deeds and gains in this world only, Allah the Highest said: “AND THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE, THEIR DEEDS ARE LIKE MIRAGE IN A DRY DESERT, THE THIRSTY PERSON WILL THING IT WATER, UNTIL WHEN HE REACHES IT HE FINDS NOTHING AND FINDS ALLAH THERE TO RECOMPENSE HIM IN FULL, FOR ALLAH IS SWIFT IN RECKONING”.  (S:24 A:39)

Their deeds benefit them in this life only, but not in the Hereafter.  Those who do deeds for their human lord’s, should expect their recompense from them.  As for those who do their deeds for the sake of Allah the Highest, they should expect their recompense from Him.  Those deeds will be in vain as the rewards of this life are minor and short lived.

They might be seen as, or feel that they are successful, but they are like those building castles of sand.  Allah the Highest said about them: “SHALL I TELL YOU WHO ARE THE MOST UNSUCCESSFUL IN THEIR DEEDS * THOSE WHOSE STRIVING WENT ASTRAY IN THE LOWER LIFE, WHILE THEY THINK THEY ARE DOING WELL * THEY ARE THOSE WHO DISBELIEVED THEIR LORD’S AYAHS AND MEETING HIM, THEIR DEEDS ARE RENDERED IN VAIN, AND THEY WILL BE OF NO WEIGHT (IN THEIR SCALES) IN THE HEREAFTER”.  (S:18 A:103-105)  Those who do not believe in Allah the Highest, or the Day of Resurrection, will therefore not receive any recompense from Allah the Highest on the Day of Resurrection.
