Araf 154
154- AND WHEN THE ANGER OF MOSES QUIETENED DOWN, HE TOOK THE TABLETS AND IN ITS SCRIPTURE THERE GUIDANCE AND MERCY FOR THOSE WHO ARE FEARFUL OF THEIR LORD.
Anger has life of its own, it may lead one to do things he should not, and therefore, Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, advised us not to be angry and advised ways of dealing with anger when it happens. Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, told us that anger is from the devil. Moses, peace upon him, was a prophet and messenger, and soon he controlled his anger. He picked up the tablets of stone, on which Allah the Highest inscribed His guidance including the Ten Commandments. Following this guidance is the way to Allah’s Mercy. Allah the Highest, also, said about the Torah which was inscribed on the plates: “WE SENT THE TORAH DOWN CONTAINING GUIDANCE AND LIGHT, THE PROPHETS WHO SUBMITTED USE IT TO JUDGE WITH FOR THE JEWS, SO DOES THE GODLY ONES AND THE SCHOLARS, BY WHAT THEY LEARNED AND MEMORIZED OF ALLAH’S BOOK, UPON WHICH THEY BEAR WITNESS”. (S:5 A:44) Allah the Highest also said: “AND IF THEY UPHELD THE TORAH AND THE ENGEEL AND WHAT WAS SENT DOWN TO YOU FROM YOUR LORD, THEY WOULD HAVE EATEN FROM WHAT IS OVER THEM AND WHAT IS UNDER THEIR FEET, SOME OF THEM BELIEVE, BUT MANY OF THEM DO EVIL THINGS”. (S:5 A:66) Allah the Highest, ends the Ayah saying that this guidance is for those who Fear their Lord. Love does not contradict fear. We often fear to upset or anger those we love, and we love our parents and fear them. Human beings need both emotions, Love and Fear in a relationship particularly with a higher authority that gives commands. It is good to love them and try to please, in the mean time fear to their displeasure and anger. We need fear, as well as love, in our relationship with Allah the Highest and Fear definitely helps in keeping us on the right path, and to be on the right side of Allah the Highest. We should never be ashamed of fearing Allah the Highest, for if we truly fear Him, then we do not fear another being more.
