Araf 156
156- AND GIVE US A REWARD IN THIS LIFE AND IN THE HEREAFTER, FOR WE HAVE BEEN GUIDED TO YOU. HE SAID: “I STRIKE WHOM I WILL WITH MY PUNISHMENT, BUT MY MERCY EMBRACES EVERYTHING, I WILL PRESCRIBE FOR THE PIOUS WHO GUARD THEMSELVES FROM ALLAH’S DISPLEASURE, GIVE ZAKAH, AND THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN OUR AYAHS.
Moses, peace upon him, asks Allah the Highest to have a reward in this life and in the Hereafter. One should not ask for his reward to be in the Hereafter only, for life will then be very hard. Allah the Highest tells us, that the believers should ask for reward in both lives “WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR RITES, REMEMBER ALLAH AS MUCH AS YOU REMEMBER YOUR FATHERS OR EVEN MORE. OF PEOPLE THOSE WHO SAY: “OUR LORD GIVE US IN THIS LIFE”, BUT THEY HAVE NO SHARE IN THE HEREAFTER * AND OF THEM THOSE WHO SAY: “OUR LORD GIVE US SOME GOODNESS IN THIS LIFE AND SOME GOODNESS IN THE HEREAFTER, AND PROTECT US FROM THE PUNISHMENT OF THE FIRE” * THESE WILL HAVE A SHARE OF WHAT THEY EARNED, FOR ALLAH IS SWIFT IN RECKONING”. (S:2 A:200-202) There is a very important principle in this Ayah; Allah’s punishment is directed to certain people who deserve it, but Allah’s Mercy, is general for everyone. Allah the Highest said: “THOSE WHO CARRY THE THRONE AND THOSE AROUND IT HYMN THE PRAISES OF THEIR LORD AND BELIEVE IN HIM AND ASK FOR FORGIVENESS FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE (SAYING): “OUR LORD, YOU EMBRACED EVERY THING WITH MERCY AND KNOWLEDGE, FORGIVE THOSE WHO REPENTED AND FOLLOWED YOUR WAY AND PROTECT THEM FROM THE PUNISHMENT OF THE HELLFIRE”. (S:4 A:7) Allah’s messenger, prayer and peace upon him, said: “Allah the Most Exulted and the Majestic, has His Mercy divided into hundred parts, one of them is what creatures have mercy on each other, and with which wild animals are kind to its offspring, and he left ninety nine parts for the Day of Resurrection”. (Muslim) Allah’s Mercy is granted to: - The Pious who do their best not to displease Allah the Highest. - Those who pay the Zakah of their money, obeying Allah the Highest, purifying their money and helping the poor. - The believers; for none of the above is of any good without believing. However, there is no limit or restriction on Allah’s bounty and Mercy. This Blog Entry's Comment Board There are no comments on this post yet, be the first to leave one!
