53- OR DO THEY HAVE A SHARE OF THE KINGDOM, AND THEN THEY WILL NOT GIVE PEOPLE THE LEAST THING.

54- OR ARE THEY ENVIOUS OF WHAT ALLAH HAS GIVEN PEOPLE OF HIS BOUNTY, WE HAVE GIVEN THE FAMILY OF IBRAHIM THE BOOK AND THEE WISDOM, AND WE HAVE GIVEN THEM A GREAT KINGDOM.

55- SOME BELIEVED IN HIM, AND SOME REJECTED HIM; THE HELL-FIRE WILL BE SUFFICIENT SCOURGE.

Allah the Highest is telling us about some of the character of the Children of Israel (the Jews):

Miserly:

They are very miserly, so much so that if they have a share of Allah’s Kingdom, which is infinite and limitless, they will not any one charity out of the goodness of their hearts. The expression used means that they will not give any gold or silver (money used to be made of them) enough to make a sound when it falls. What they give is for a worldly gain of one form or another.

Envy:

The Jews are envious that the last prophet and messenger came from the like of Ismail not from the line of Isaac, which is what they expected. Allah the Highest makes it clear that his blessings are for the whole family of Ibrahim and all his children. “WE HAVE GIVEN THE FAMILY OF IBRAHIM THE BOOK AND THEE WISDOM, AND WE HAVE GIVEN THEM A GREAT KINGDOM”. They do not however accept Allah’s will.

Allah the Highest promises all those who heard of and disbelieved in Mohamed prayer and peace upon him the scourge of the Hell-Fire. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “By he who has the soul of Mohamed in his hand, no one of these people Jew or Christian hears of me, and then dies without believing in what I was sent with, and will not be of the people of the Fire”. (M: Eman; 240)
