80- HE WHO OBEYS THE MESSENGER, HE HAS OBEYED ALLAH, AS FOR THOSE WHO TURN AWAY, WE DID NOT SEND YOU AS THEIR GUARDIAN.
81- AND THEY SAY: “WE WILL OBEY”, BUT WHEN THEY LEAVE YOU, SOME OF THEM INTENDED DIFFERENT FROM WHAT THEY SAID. ALLAH WRITES WHAT THEY PLOT, SO TURN AWAY FROM THEM, AND PUT YOUR TRUST IN ALLAH, FOR ALLAH IS SUFFICIENT TO ACT FOR YOU.
Ayah 80 tells us about the group of people who claim to be Muslims but follow the Quran only being God word, but not Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him. Allah the Highest tells them in the Quran they believe in only “HE WHO OBEYS THE MESSENGER, HE HAS OBEYED ALLAH”.
This is because Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him does not say things of his own accord; he is either given Quran, or is guided by Allah the Highest. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said the meaning of this Ayah in a Hadith, saying: “He who obeys me, he obeys Allah and he who disobey me, he disobeys Allah”. (B:Jihad;109 & M:Emrah;32,33 & N:Bayah;27 & Ma:Moqademah;1 & A:2;39,244)
Indeed, Allah the Highest sent all His prophets and messengers for the believers to obey them and follow them. Allah the Highest said: “EVERY MESSENGER WE SENT TO BE OBEYED WITH ALLAH’S PERMISSION”. (S:4 A:64)
Allah the Highest guides his messenger and guides his tongue to say what Allah intends. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Allah decrees through His messenger’s tongue what he wills”. (B:Zakah;21 & M:Salah;64 & D:Adab;7 & N:Zakah;75 & Ma:Talaq;8 & A:4;394, 400)
Allah the Highest did not appoint Mohamed prayer and peace upon him or any other messenger to be responsible for those who follow them or not, but to deliver the message to them in full. This was his responsibility and we bear witness that he delivered the message, prayer and peace upon him.
Then Allah the Highest tells us about the behavior of the hypocrites, which does not change much over the years. Whenever they hear Allah’s Word they seem to be listening and to be obedient. However, when they turn their backs they have different intentions, which Allah the Highest knows and writes down for them to face on the Day of Judgment.
The way to treat them is what Allah the Highest told His messenger to do, to turn away from them and put our trust in Allah. It is no good arguing with them, because only Allah the Highest knows our intentions and our hearts. Turning away from them, means to neglect them and not to listen to them or give them much attention.
