95- THOSE WHO STAY BEHIND FROM JIHAD WITHOUT SUFFERING DISABILITY OR BLINDNESS, ARE NOT EQUAL TO THOSE WHO FIGHT IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH WITH THEIR WEALTH AND THEIR SOULS, ALLAH FAVOURED THOSE WHO FIGHT IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH WITH THEIR WEALTH AND THEIR SOULS OVER THOSE WHO STAY BEHIND BY A GRADE. AND HE PROMISED BOTH GOODNESS, BUT ALLAH FAVOURED THE MUJAHEDEEN OVER THOSE WHO STAY BEHIND WITH A GREAT REWARD.
96- GRADES FROM HIM, FORGIVENESS AND MERCY, FOR ALLAH IS MOST FORGIVING AND MOST MERCIFUL.
Allah the Highest is telling us that those who fight in the cause of Allah are fare better than those who do not, unless they suffer a form of disability that prevents them from fighting, for example being blind.
Zyd Ibn Thabet was one of the companions who wrote the Quran down. He reported: “I was by the side of Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him when Quran was revealed to him, his thigh fell on my thigh and I never felt any thing heavier than his thigh then. When he was relieved he said: “write down “THOSE WHO STAY BEHIND FROM JIHAD, ARE NOT EQUAL TO……..” Then Abd Allah Ibn Om Maktoom who was a blind man and can not fight, he said: “Allah’s messenger, what about those of the believers who can not fight in the cause of Allah?” He just finished his words and it was revealed to him “THOSE WHO STAY BEHIND FROM JIHAD WITHOUT SUFFERING DISABILITY OR BLINDNESS, ARE NOT EQUAL TO THOSE WHO FIGHT IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH WITH THEIR WEALTH AND THEIR SOULS, ALLAH FAVOURED THOSE WHO FIGHT IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH WITH THEIR WEALTH AND THEIR SOULS OVER THOSE WHO STAY BEHIND BY A GRADE. AND HE PROMISED BOTH GOODNESS, BUT ALLAH FAVOURED THE MUJAHEDEEN OVER THOSE WHO STAY BEHIND WITH A GREAT REWARD”. (B: Tafseer Sorah 4; 18 & a: 4; 282,284)
Allah the Highest loves those who fight in His cause even if with their hearts only, being unable to fight due to sickness or disability. They are very different from those who stay behind fearing for themselves. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him was in one of his expeditions marching with the Muslims, he said: “There are men in Medina whom whenever you march or cross a valley, they will be with you (having the same reward). They are held back by sickness”. (M: Emarah; 159 & D: Jehad; 19 & Ma: Jehad; 6)
There are many Muslims who sincerely wish to fight in the cause of Allah, and to be martyred, and prays for it sincerely, but never has the chance. Allah the Highest treats them according to their intentions, for Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “He who asks Allah to be martyred in the cause of Allah, Allah will grant him the status of the martyrs even if he dies on his bed”. (Ma: Jihad; 15 & D: Jihad; 40 & Da: Jihad; 15)
There are those who could not afford it financially, as in the past every man has to have his sword, spear and shield as well as an animal to ride and provisions for journey and for his family while he is away and not earning money. Later on armies were equipped by the state and soldiers were paid regular salaries. Allah the Highest sent down Quran about them saying: “THERE IS NO BLAME ON THOSE WHO ARE WEEK OR SICK AND INFIRM, OR THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE WHAT THEY NEED TO SPEND BLAME IF THEY ARE SINCERE IN COMMITMENT TO ALLAH AND HIS MESSENGER, THERE IS NOT BLAME OF THE RIGHTEOUS ONES, AND ALLAH IS MOST FORGIVING AND COMPASSIONATE * NOR IS THERE ANY BLAME ON THOSE WHO ASK YOU TO PROVIDE THEM WITH MOUNT, YOU SAY: “I DO NOT HAVE MOUNTS FOR YOU” THEY LEAVE WITH TEARS IN THEIR EYES OUT OF SORROW THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE WHAT TO SPEND”. (S: 9 A: 91-92)
There are great differences in the ranks of the believers before Allah the Highest between those who fight in the cause of Allah and those who do not while they can. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Allah prepared for those who fight in his cause hundred ranks in Paradise, between each two is as much as there is between the Heavens and the Earth”. (B: Jihad; 4 & M: Emarah; 116 & T: Janah; 4)
Indeed, for one to die fighting in the cause of Allah the Highest is not just a great status, but the martyr is promised six FAVOURS from his Lord, as Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “The Martyr has six favours from his Lord; he will be forgiven in the first group, he will be protected from the suffering of the grave, he will saved from the great fear on the day of resurrection, he will be crowned with the crown of dignity a single ruby in it is worth more than this world and what is in it, he will be married to seventy two of Hour El-Ein, and will be allowed to intercede for seventy of his relatives”. (T: Fadael Al-Jihad; 25 & a: 4; 131)
Whoever fights in the cause of Allah is to gain, whether he lives or dies, in this life and in the Hereafter.
