129- AND YOU WILL NEVER BE JUST BETWEEN WOMEN (WIVES) EVEN IF YOU ARE KEEN TO, SO DO NOT LEAN TOTALLY TOWARDS ONE AND LEAVE THE OTHER SUSPENDED. IF YOU DO GOOD AND BE PIOUS, ALLAH IS MOST FORGIVING AND MOST MERCIFUL.
130- AND IF THEY SEPARATE, ALL WILL PROVIDE EACH OF THEM FROM HIS PLENTY, FOR ALLAH IS ALL EMBRACING AND MOST WISE.
For men who have more than one wife, Allah the Highest is saying that it will be difficult to be just between them, even if one is keen to.
It is much easier to be just between material things, giving each the same amount of money to buy things, same kind of house, etc. In matters of the heart however, the situation is different. Human beings can not share their love equally, and certainly not between wives. A degree of injustice is inevitable, but it should never be intentional, or considerable.
Aysha Allah’s messenger’s wife said: “Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him used to share things equally between his wives and say: “Allah, this my sharing out of what I possess, do not blame me concerning what You possess and I do not possess”. (T: Nikah; 41 & D: Nikah; 3 & N: Nesae; 2)
A man unjust to one of his wives; will be seen as such on the Day of Resurrection. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “If a man who has two wives is unjust between them, he will come on the Day of Resurrection with one side of him dropped off”. (T: Nekah; 41 & D: Nikah; 38 & Da: Nikah; 24)
Indeed, the greatest injustice is to neglect one wife totally, for Allah the Highest does not like injustice, He said: “My slaves, I forbad myself to be unjust and made injustice forbidden amongst you, so do not be unjust to each other”.
Such injustice does not go without punishment for it angers Allah the Highest.
If the man and wife are unable to continue living together, that is their life became unpleasant and divorce is better for them than to continue the marriage, Allah the Highest comforts them that he will provide for each of them. If a woman feels that she has to tolerate unhappiness in marriage because she will be poor if she leaves her husband, Allah the Highest tell her that her provisions are there with him, not with her husband, for he said: “AND IN THE HEAVENS ARE YOUR PROVISIONS AND WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN PROMISED”.
This is provided that her reasons for divorce are just and fair.
