148- ALLAH DOES NOT LIKE PEOPLE TO SAY BAD THINGS, EXCEPT THOSE WHO SUFFERED INJUSTICE, AND ALLAH HEARS AND KNOWS ALL THINGS.
149- WHETHER YOU SHOW GOOD DEEDS, HIDE IT, OR FORGIVE BAD DEEDS, ALLAH IS THE ONE WHO PARDONS MOST AND IS MOST ABLE.
Allah the Highest does not like the Muslims to speak badly to others or about others. However, Allah the Highest is making an exception that is those who suffer injustice, for Allah the Highest is not unjust, has forbidden us from being unjust and hates injustice. There are reasons for this exception:
- To give the person suffering injustice opportunity to express themselves and tell others about the injustice they suffered.
- Deterring people from being unjust.
- To let the unjust suffer indignity and humiliation because of their injustice.
- To encourage and enthuse people to help and support those who suffer injustice.
The person who suffer injustice may punish with the same he suffered, but to pardon and forgive, is better and is rewarded by Allah the Highest who said: “AND THE RECOMPENSE OF A BAD DEED IS A BAD DEED OF THE LIKE THEREOF, BUT THOSE WHO FORGIVE AND DO GOOD, HIS REWARD IS WITH ALLAH, FOR ALLAH DOES NOT LIKE THE UNJUST”. (S: 42 A: 40)
Certainly Allah’s reward is a greater compensation.
To speak badly to a person whom did wrong to you is a form of punishment for them in this life and it eases off their punishment in the Hereafter. Something was stolen from Aysha Allah’s messenger’s wife, and she was cursing the thief then Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said to her: “Do not ease off his punishment”. (D: Adab; 46 & a: 6; 45,136,215)
Being patient and not retaliating in a bad manner verbally or physically when treated unjustly is rewarded by Allah the Highest. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “The patient of the believing Muslims is always rewarded”. (A: 1; 173,177,182)
Therefore we find that patience is a great gift and of the best characters Allah the Highest gives a person. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Allah does not give any one anything that is better or more embracing than patience”. (B:Reqaq;20 & M:Zakah;123 & D:Zakah;28 & T:Zekr;77 & N:Zakah;85)
However, we should not leave a person who suffer injustice as they are patient, the Muslims should help and support him to uphold justice and against the unjust. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said to all the Muslims “To support the person who suffer injustice”. (B: Mazaleem; 5)
Supporting the person who suffers injustice prevents injustice from spreading in the society and is doing well to the person suffering injustice as well as the unjust person. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Support your brother whether he is unjust or suffers injustice”. They said: “We would support him if he suffers injustice, but how do we support him if he is unjust?” He said: “By restraining his hand”. (B;Mazalem;4 & M:Ber;62 & T:Fetan;68 & D:Reqaq;40 & A;3;99,201)
Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him passes some Muslims of the Ansar sitting by the road, he said to them: “If you must do (sit by the road); then return the greeting, help he who suffers injustice, and guide those who lost their way”. (T: Istazan; 30 & Da; Istazan; 26 & a: 4; 228,291)
Those who see injustice being done and do not try to stop it, makes them incur Allah’s anger, for they are either colluding with the unjust or fear him more than they should fear Allah the Highest and both are wrong. Abu Bakr El-Sidiq said: “O people, you hear this Ayah (not understanding it) ‘YOU WHO BELIEVE YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOURSELVES, YOU WILL NOT BE HARMED BY THOSE WHO ARE MISGUIDED IF YOU ARE RIGHTLY GUIDED’, I heard Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him say: “If people see a person being unjust and do not restrain his hand, Allah will be about to punish them” (T:Fetan;8 & D:Malahem;17 & A:1;7)
Allah the Highest is always with the person suffering injustice, supporting and full of compassion for him, and always answers his Dawa. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Guard yourselves from the Dawa of the person who suffers injustice, for there is not shield between it and Allah”. (B: Mazalem; 9 & M: Eman; 29 & T: Ber; 28 & D: Zakah; 5)
And said: “Guard yourselves from the Dawa of the person who suffers injustice, for it is always answered”. (B: Jihad; 180 & Ma: Dawa; 11 & Mal: Dawat El-Mazloom; 1 & A: 2; 258,367)
Unfortunately, injustice is not rare in the world in general and in the Muslim world in particular. I do not mean the injustice of the non-Muslims to the Muslims, but the injustice of the Muslim to another Muslim. It can be in the form of abuse of power, favouritism, monopoly on essential goods, or any other form of injustice. One has to think many times before committing any act of injustice, as the Dawa of those suffer injustice against him will certainly be answered. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Three people whose Dawa is never rejected, the fasting person when he breaks his fast, the just leader and the person who suffers injustice, Allah will raise it above the clouds, and open the heavens gates for it, and the Lord would say: “By My Honour, I will support you to victory, even if after a while”. (T: Dawat; 128 & M: Sayam; 48 & A: 2; 305,445)
